A distinctly cool and more restrained nose is comprised by notes of Granny Smith apple, spice, white orchard fruit and enough wood influence to mention. There is good size and weight to the moderately concentrated larger-bodied flavors that possess good richness but also pretty good delineation on the balanced, dry, citrusy and sneaky long finale that is even firmer. This is one to basically buy and forget, at least for a minimum of 5 years. (Drink starting 2035)
This solid, satisfying wine boasts ripe pear, apricot and quince fruit aromas, with hints of hawthorn, butter and spice. The texture is almost massive, perhaps just a bit four-square, but it should pick up in elegance as it ages in the bottle. The grapes result from a trade with a friend in Pernand; they are gently pressed and fermented in cask (30% new), where they will stay for 14 months, followed by another four in tank. This majestic wine will open with time; give it seven years before opening, and drink over the next 30. (Drink between 2028-2050)
