This wine is made exclusively for Farr Vintners by Jean-Marie Guffens from vines grown at an elevation of 400 metres on a limestone soil near the village of Apt in North-West Provence. The grapes were all picked by hand and come from the Plateau de l’Aigle. It is mainly Chardonnay, with a touch of Viognier and Marsanne - all forbidden grape varities in the local Luberon appellation - hence the name. Total production 700 cases. This year there is a dash of "raisins rotis", grapes that have been allowed to get very ripe, in the blend. You can feel this on the nose and see it in the glass, with the bright lemon-gold colour giving way to a powerful aromatic array from citrus through to honeysuckle and chestnut. The fruit is bold with apricots, peach stone and passionfruit. The palate, too, is impressive. Dense and layered with that same ripe core flooding the mouth. A polished, full-bodied wine, this is a sumptuous and impressive iteration of this cuvee. It is very moreish, with an intensity and length that keeps you coming back.
