Platinum award, Decanter World Wine Awards. Pure and fruit driven, wonderfully fresh and vibrant nose showing elegant aromas of green apples, white peaches, lemon curd and pineapple. Fresh and zippy palate, with a racy acidity, showing tension. Elegant lemony finish.
Neil Ellis was always one of the Cape's best Chardonnay producers and his son Warren has inherited his feel for the grape. This structured, textured, understated Elgin example is pure and still primary, with scented oak, fine lees and clementine, melon, wet stone and citrus peel flavours. Has the acidic backbone to age in bottle. Drink 2023-27.
