Tasting Notes

Based on the 2018 vintage, Egly's newly released NV Brut Grand Cru offers up inviting aromas of honeyed pear and white flowers mingled with hints of mint and praline. Medium to full-bodied, pillowy and chiseled, it's an especially fine-boned, precise rendition of this immensely dependable cuvée, formerly known as the domaine's "Tradition" bottling. 2023 - 2035

William Kelley, Wine Advocate, December 2023

The 2023 disgorgement of Brut Grand Cru is 60% 2018, 20% 2017 and 20% 2016 with just 1g/l dosage. Pale in colour with a tightly wound nose, it unfurls to reveal notes of citrus, wood smoke and a hint of vanilla-studded pastry cream. The palate is powerful and structured, rich in texture of mousse yet cut by acidity. The tense core of fruit is ripe but introverted at the moment - this is a wine built to age. Fleshing out towards the finish, this reveals rich notes of fresh bread, whipped butter and poached pear. Most intense at the finish, this will only improve with a couple of years in bottle.
