Musigny, Louis Jadot 2022

Tasting Notes

The 2022 Musigny Grand Cru (Domaine Louis Jadot) is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with notes of damask roses, ripe red cherries, blood orange and exotic spices. Full-bodied, deep and layered, it's seamless and multidimensional, with an effortless sense of completeness and a long, resonant finish.

The Musigny, like the Bonnes Mares, has been given 30% whole bunch vinification. Of the two, this has the more solid purple colour, and definitely a more backward nose. A wealth of fruit completely envelopes the palate but the detail is submerged in the flow. A trace of bitterness behind which is just part of its youth. All is there, will it hit the highest point of majesty? Not sure but I think it will get close as there is a lot here to work with, and more elevage to come. Drink from 2035-2045+. Tasted: October 2023.
