This is notably riper than any other in this group of Gevrey grands crus with a profoundly complex nose of red and black pinot fruit, warm earth, underbrush, game, anise, clove, mocha and roasted coffee hints that introduce rich, full and intense flavors that are packed with potential on the serious and chewy finish that is both concentrated and powerful while seeming to go on forever. There is quite simply another dimension here that takes the '05 Bèze well beyond its stable mates but be prepared to wait as this will need 15 to 20 years in the cellar first. Sublime.
Full red-ruby. Captivating, vibrant nose combines cherry, faded rose, licorice and earth. Sweet and sappy but almost painfully closed today; as vibrant and elegant as this is, the wine's underlying mineral and floral notes are not yet expressing themselves. Best today on the superb mounting finish, which features noble, fine-grained tannins. The crop level here was 33 hl/ha, according to Lardiere.
Deep colour and very headily seductive nose. Amazing concentration and layers. Without simply being sweet and rich. Admirable superiority. Great racy dry texture but with truly throat warming fruit. Really exciting stuff. Long, concentrated yet dry and delicate. Great freshness.
