Initially there is a touch of reduction though a quick aeration largely dissipates it to reveal earthy and very ripe (in the context of the vintage and this relatively high-elevation vineyard) aromas of various dark berries, plum and a hint of violet. There is fine richness to the lightly mineral-driven middle weight flavors that offer good if not truly special depth and persistence. This fleshy effort is seductive and while it will certainly be capable of rewarding 5 to perhaps 8 years of cellaring, there is sufficient mid-palate fat that it could be enjoyed now.
