Samuel Billaud works with one plot on each side of the valley. Clear pale colour. Quite a discreet nose but showing the limestone bench which is characteristic for me of Vaudésir as well as Les Clos. This has a wonderful, generous intensity without too much heat showing, a lemony thread runs through the middle, and there is a particularly clean fine finish. Dynamic tension is maintained all the way through.
Moderate wood frames mildly exotic yet elegant aromas of both white and yellow orchard fruit that are laced with hints of quinine and petrol. The energetic and beautifully well-delineated medium-bodied flavors flash an abundance of minerality on the bitter lemon-inflected and wonderfully persistent finish. This is a Vaudésir of refinement and finesse that should age very well over the mid-term.
