Tasting Notes

Quality at this property has soared over recent years since their lease with the J. P. Moueix firm expired, and the 2006 boasts a deep plum/ruby/purple color as well as a sweet perfume of smoked meats, black raspberries, black currants, licorice, truffles, and charcoal. With outstanding purity, medium to full body, impressive depth, texture, and length, and noticeable, but sweet, velvety tannins, it should drink well for 15 or more years.

The 2006 Château Feytit-Clinet offers an upfront, well defined and surprisingly backward bouquet with menthol-tinged black fruit, cassis and blueberry. There is a floral aspect to this wine and it comes across as being well balanced with fine-grain tannin on the palate. It comes replete with a candied and quite saline finish that does not quite deliver the same degree of complexity of the nose. Still, this is a commendable wine from Jeremy Chasseuil that is continuing to give pleasure, even though I feel that it has not built on that initial burst of colour it was showing during the first years of its life.

Fresh sweet black fruit on the nose then fresh on the palate, fine fresh cool tannins balanced by sweet fruit. Fine dry tannins. Could be a good buy.

Full red-ruby. Extravagant aromas of raspberry, iron, brown spices, tobacco, burning cinders and nutty oak. Lush, broad, ripe and dry; really saturates the palate without any impression of weight. Suave, fine-grained, horizontal wine, still a bit youthfully tight. Finishes with lovely lingering perfume.

Situated between Trotanoy and Latour a Pomerol, this estate has come on strong over the last 4-5 years under the guidance of the Chasseuil family. The 15-acre vineyard planted in sandy/gravelly soils produced a deep ruby/purple-hued 2006 offering sweet cranberry, black cherry, licorice and herb-infused notes in a full-bodied, opulent, fleshy format. With moderate tannin as well as terrific texture and purity, it should drink well for 15+ years.

Tasted in London. This is a seriously fine wine from Feytit-Clinet and should not be overlooked. A deep black hue. The nose is opulent and vigorous with great purity and aromas of plum, black cherries and iodine. Full-bodied on the plush, sumptuous palate with rounded, quite toasty tannins. Dense black fruits, a little spice with a silky texture. Very focused on the finish. Superb. Tasted April 2007.
