Volnay Pluchots, Domaine Pierrick Bouley 2020

The 2020 Volnay Les Pluchots has turned out very nicely, offering up aromas of cherries and sweet berries framed by hints of forest floor and toasty oak. Medium to full-bodied, ample and fleshy, with powdery tannins, tangy acids and a seamless, elegant profile, it derives from a parcel just below the premiers crus where the limestone is very close to the surface. 2025 - 2040

Slightly fresher liqueur-like aromas of dark currant and exotic tea exhibit a violet top note. Once again there is a slightly finer mouthfeel to the solidly concentration and voluminous flavors that conclude in a dusty, even chalky youthfully austere finish that is both more complex as well as more persistent.
