Note: from a .70 ha total of the 1ers La Riotte, Clos Sorbé and Le Village plus a small proportion of young vines Clos des Lambrays; 50% whole cluster
A ripe and deeply pitched nose offers up notes of plum, dark cherry and prominent floral elements. There is both very good volume and richness to the delicious medium-bodied flavors that possess impressive intensity on the dusty, youthfully austere and solidly long finale. This fine effort is sufficiently firm to repay mid- to even longer-term cellaring.
A blend that includes the Clos des Lambrays's younger vines, along with grapes from the premiers crus of La Riotte, Clos Sorbet and Le Village, the 2020 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Les Loups reveals aromas of dark berry fruit, orange rind and rich spices. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and succulent, with powdery tannins and lively acids, it's a nicely balanced wine that shows promise.
This is a blend of 0.7ha of 1er cru vineyards and 0.4ha of grand cru young vines, planted in 2000 in the spot called les 30 rangs. Mid crimson, the nose is a little on the sombre side. 50% whole bunch actually livens this up. I do not quite pick the life but there is a burst of deep raspberry fruit which fills out the finish and produces an impressive persistence.
