This is from the Mazoyères side. Black purple colour. Notably reductive at first, though that soon blows off to allow heady black cherry notes, The volume of fruit is indisputable and it is certainly very rich. I was unsurprised to discover that this has tiptoed over 14%. One of the last to be picked. I still like it a great deal and I can still see the Mazoyères mineral character through the middle.
Firm reduction renders the nose unreadable. There is excellent intensity to the gamy, dense and overtly powerful larger-scaled flavors that terminate in a markedly structured, rustic and robust finish that is compact and quite serious. This is a full-on Charmes that is impressive in its fashion though it doesn't possess much finesse.
