Thee 2005 Pensées de Lafleur is an exceptional wine. Though I have deep experience with Lafleur, I was surprised to find that I have never tasted this before. The bouquet is quintessential Pomerol: dark berry fruit, cola, black truffle, and hints of garrigues that are all exquisitely defined. The palate is intense, as you would expect from a wine of this vintage, exceptionally fresh with a taut line of acidity. There are layers of blackberry and raspberry laced with smoke, truffle and morels, long and tender towards the weighty but tensile finish. At 13 years old there is absolutely no reason why it will not give another 13-years of pleasure, probably more. Tasted from a bottle given by Baptiste Guinaudeau. 2019 - 2032
Excellent colour. Pretty lush on the front. Very sweet and gentle and easy. Round and mineral. Very rich and lively. Dry start to the palate but not on the finish. Very unusual! Very round and flatteur. Difficult to imagine why this was eliminated from the Ch Lafleur grand vin.
