Two plots picked and vinified apart, blended after elevage. This has as fine a bouquet as I can remember from the Vougeraie Clos de Vougeot. The colour has medium density, while the nose brings a sensuality which is not often present. So too on the palate there is a smoothness of fruit overlying the native firm structural blocks. This shows great promise.
Revisited from bottle, the 2018 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru unwinds in the glass with aromas of plums, warm spices, potpourri, wintergreen and creamy new oak. Medium to full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, with a broad attack and an ample core of fruit, it's a little shy after its recent bottling despite the fact that in profile this is a rather supple, charming interpretation of this site.
