The 2017 Extra-Brut Haute Couture Le Mesnil/Oger is wonderfully extroverted from the very first taste. A rush of lemon confit, tangerine oil, white flowers and spice races across the palate, framed by sweet French oak that adds an exotic, flamboyant touch. I can’t decide if this is more wine or Champagne, but it is gorgeous. The style leans very much in the realm of exuberance, and yet all the elements are so skillfully balanced. Dosage is 2.5 grams per liter. Disgorged: October, 2021.
From Le Mesnil sur Oger, Savart's 2017 Extra Brut Haute Couture is showing very well, bursting with aromas of citrus oil, confit peach, white flowers, buttered toast and almond paste. Full-bodied, rich and vinous, with a layered core of ripe, fleshy fruit and a long, expansive finish, it's one of the high points of the range.
