Prunes and powerful sweetness before a rather dry finish, with a bit of alcohol on the end. More obviously sweet than the 1980.
Mid tawny/mahogany colour. There is real precision and clarity to the nose here; dried fruit, old books, fresh almonds and preserved lemons unfold with time in the glass. There is a feeling of sweetness to the aromas but it remaind bright and pure. This follows on the palate, which is earthy and rich, glossy in texture. Harmonious and gentle sweetness sits against smoky cep mushroom tones. Oodles of dried fruit on a layered and long finish, this is a very fine example.
