The 2018 Barolo Monvigliero, another new wine in this range, is dazzling. That's not much of a surprise, as the 2018 has always been gorgeous from barrel. A touch of whole clusters adds aromatic nuance and lift to this super-classic, sculpted Barolo. The Monvigliero impresses with its purity, delineation and class. Superb. 2028-2048
The 2018 Vietti Barolo Monvigliero is their first vintage of this wine and it does not disappoint. The wine reveals rich, lush, candied rose petals and very sweet strawberry coulis aromas mingled with delicate red fruits and wild strawberries with a hint of green. It has an amazingly silky texture, round and full with very persistent strawberry notes and very fine, salty, chalky tannins and a fresh finish. They do whole-cluster fermentation for 65% of the grapes as does their good friend Fabio Alessandria at Comm. G B Burlotto. Beautiful. Wait two to three years, and drink for 25.
