Chambertin, Louis Jadot 2020

Tasting Notes

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru has a magnificent bouquet with delineated redcurrant, raspberry and strawberry scents, quite pixelated in style, very focused and shimmering with tension. The palate is extremely well balanced with fine but firm tannins that frame some exquisite red fruit with real mineralité that just floods through on the finish. Brilliant.

A brooding but quite pretty and elegant nose timidly reveals its array of essence of red currant, soil and lovely floral wisps. The middle weight flavors are not quite as dense but nonetheless there is both fine power and delineation to the strikingly long finish that is a bit less austere than it usually is, which is all the more surprising given how structured it is. Patience will absolutely serve the buyer well here.

The 2020 Chambertin Grand Cru (Maison Louis Jadot) is a real success this year, and one of the high points of the négociant side of the portfolio. Bursting with aromas of orange rind, wild berries, plums, spices, vanilla pod and loamy soil, it's full-bodied, rich and ample, with ripe tannins and a long, lusty finish.
