The 2019 Pommard Grands Epenots 1er Cru has a well defined bouquet with a mixture of red/black fruit, a touch of pressed iris and violet infusing the black fruit. This gains in intensity with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins. There is some new oak evident here (25% new) although that will be subsumed with time. A powerful Pommard, this has great volume and persistence but it will require cellaring. Drink between 2024-2042.
