A background application of wood sets off a more red fruit infused nose that offers slightly more evident spice nuances. The sleeker and more concentrated middle weight flavors possess a lovely sense of energy that carries over to the delicious, balanced and sneaky long finish. This is really quite good plus it should drink well early on. (Drink starting 2024)
As is typical in the Liger-Belair cellars, the 2017 la Colombière offers up quite a bit more depth on both the nose and palate than the straight Vosne AC bottling. The fine bouquet wafts from the glass in a mix of red and black raspberries, raw cocoa, dark soil tones, woodsmoke, gamebird and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full and nicely sappy at the core, with a bit of suave tannin, fine focus and grip and a long, complex and velvety finish. A lovely villages. (Drink between 2021-2045)
