Rich and demonstrative, the 2019 Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru wafts from the glass with aromas of orchard fruits, peach, nutmeg, orange oil and fresh bread. Full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, it's deep and concentrated, with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and a long, saline finish. This is an unusually broad-shouldered but beautifully balanced Corton-Charlemagne from Bouchard.
Once again, the nose is firmly reduced though it seems clear that the underlying fruit is ripe. The plump, round and succulent larger-scaled flavors possess much better density and impressive power on the saline and beautifully long finish. This isn't as precise and chiseled as it usually is though there is still much to like as it should be reasonably approachable on the younger side.
