The 2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Clos de la Garenne (Duc de Magenta) has turned out very well, bursting with aromas of pear, toasted almonds, pastry cream, white flowers and Meyer lemon. Medium to full-bodied, elegantly fleshy and enveloping, with an ample core of succulent fruit, lively acids and a nicely defined, gently oak-inflected finish, this will offer a broad drinking window.
Little fresh lemon colour with a very pretty and stylish nose. Old chardonnay vines, over 80 year old, always gives this finesse. Altogether a very classy wine, with a huge weight of fruit behind. This is very impressive. Tasted: November 2019
Preserved lemons and candied citrus peel with a good hit of sweet spice on the nose. Broad and oily on the palate, this is luxurious on entry but cut by just enough acidity to keep fresh. Open-knit and luscious through to the finish, this will be superb to drink from release.
