This too is presently displaying a lot of wood spice but in contrast to the Clos de la Roche, there isn't the ashy quality but more importantly, there is the weight and depth of extract to successfully integrate the wood over time. Big, intense, robust and almost aggressively tannic flavors remain strikingly well balanced and the finish lasts for minutes. A really fine effort that combines size and volume without losing its sense of elegance and finesse.
