A reticent, even shy but highly complex nose is cool to the point of being almost cold (if aromas can be legitimately characterized in such a fashion). It features intensely floral aromas of pure wild red berry fruit, wet stone, soft spices and a whiff of the sauvage. This is a big and powerful yet entirely elegant wine which makes for an interesting contrast with the silky palate impression of the energetic and muscular flavors that are supported by very firm but ripe tannins on the penetratingly mineral-driven finish that is quite saline in character. This impressively concentrated effort should age brilliantly well for years to come, though once again, note that ample bottle age will be required. Latricières just doesn't get much better than this.
