Reduction. There is good muscle to the intense bigger-bodied flavors that still manage to retain a relatively refined mouthfeel while tightening up on the focused and impressively complex finish that delivers sneaky good length. While this is certainly firm it should drink reasonably well young if that's your preference.
The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Boudots has another very elegant and poised bouquet: blackberry, raspberry and a subtle marine influence that becomes more prominent with time in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly coarse tannin, firm and more masculine, needing more flesh and harmony to come through on the finish. Not bad, but I wager that this is not one of the domaine’s best in 2016.
