The Monbousquet 2016 Blanc delivers intense scents of lime juice, lemon zest and grapefruit with hints of peach blossom, beeswax and mandarin peel. Medium-bodied, the palate is packed with zesty layers with a wonderfully refreshing backbone, finishing on a compelling chalky note. Drink 2020-2030.
A juicy and round white already with dried pinepple and honey. Hints of pears. Full and flavorful.
Owned by Gérard Perse. 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Gris, 5% Muscadelle, 5% Sémillon. Not barrel fermented but aged in a mix of 50% new and 50% used barrels. Bâtonnage.
Exotic and salty and sweet. Quite rich. Not refreshing. But smoky and big and beefy.
The white from this estate, the 2016 Blanc d'Exception is a medium-bodied, clean, pretty white that’s about as gulpable as it gets. Classy notes of lemon, salted melon, and a touch of flowers all define the bouquet, and it should drink nicely for 2-4 years. Drink 2019-2023.
The Monbousquet 2016 Blanc is a blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Sauvignon Gris and 5% each of Muscadelle and Sémillon. It has a crisp bouquet with fresh lime and passion fruit aromas, nicely detailed with good vigor. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, a little waxiness to the texture from the Sauvignon Gris with a straightforward dried pineapple-tinged finish. Fine. 2018 - 2026
