Inviting dark violets on the nose with a fresh earthy undercurrent and intense blueberries, cassis and blackberry fruits. Some orange peel, too. The palate’s silky, smooth, supple and seamless. Superb. Drink or hold.
The 2015 Le Prieure was rather animally and feral on the nose, quite savory and gourmand in style. The palate is medium-bodied with sweet tannin, chewy and maybe just a little over-extracted because I was seeking more precision and detail on the finish. I would give this three years in bottle since there is the foundation of a fine Saint-Émilion.
