Meursault Perrieres, Domaine Guy Roulot 2015

Tasting Notes

**Note: 40+ year old vines**
This is at once the most elegant and the most complex wine in the range with its ripe, pure and airy aromas of white flower, wet stone, spice and lemon/lime nuances where, in textbook Perrières fashion, the minerality also permeates the textured, concentrated and refined medium-bodied flavors that possess incredible precision on the almost painful and hugely long finish. Roulot makes the most understated version of Perrières among the top guns and this is destined to be a classic. Or, more prosaically stated, this is a genuine 'wow' wine.

The 2015 Meursault 1er Cru Perrières is firmly shut down, offering up only a reticent bouquet of iodine, toasted nuts and citrus oil. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, tangy and bright but decidedly taut, playing its cards very close to its vest. From barrel, this was the most intense and concentrated wine in Roulot's cellar, with immense potential, but given how closed the wine is today, there is really no point pulling corks for a good five years. 2023 - 2040
