This displays a peculiar kind of reduction the Burgundians call cassis flower, which isn't unpleasant per se but it's not desirable either; it's difficult to say whether it will eventually dissipate though my rating offers the benefit of the doubt. The middle weight flavors possess a notably finer mouth feel with a bit more minerality as well, all wrapped in a well-balanced and impressively persistent finish. This isn't technically perfect today but everything else is in place for this to age well.
