Sweet red cherries, plums, menthol, smoke, tobacco, mint and licorice are some of the notes that meld together in the 2011 Barolo Monvigliero. Sensual, layered and creamy on the palate, the 2011 speaks to balance above all else. Ripe, silky tannins add to an overall impression of finesse. It's hard to say much else, except that the 2011 hits all the right notes. What a gorgeous wine this is. (Drink between 2018-2036)
The 2011 Barolo Monvigliero is a wine of large-scale intensity, length and width. This warm-vintage Nebbiolo opens to thick and darkened tones of dried cherry and blackberry with Indian spice, black tar and licorice at the back. The 2011 vintage offers more textural richness and extraction in general, and you get both those traits here. Drink this Barolo over the next 10 years. Drink Date 2018 - 2028
