Considerably more closed compared to the 2007 and 2004 tasted alongside. Subtle, fresh blackberry and coal dust, with some violet floral notes. Very fine tannins, muscular but discrete. Lovely energy, tension and salinity. Long, focussed, straight style; not as generous as the 2004, but very long. Will be great in time. Various soils: granite, slate, clay, gravel. Three weeks' fermentation and three weeks maceration in 2,000L open-top wooden fermenters. Aged for 12 months on lees in small barrels, then a further 12 months on fine lees in large wooden foudres. Drinking Window: 2028 - 2042
