The 2015 Mâcon-Pierreclos 1er Jus de Chavigne is a superb achievement in this vintage, wafting from the glass with notes of toasted nuts, buttered orchard fruit and preserved citrus framed by subtle reduction. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, ample and generous, with great purity, incisive acidity and excellent concentration. I'm happy to have a case in my own cellar.
Made solely from the juices of a light, first pressing in order to retain acidity and freshness, this 2015 has a nose of sherbet, salted lemons and peaches with a touch of smoke on the nose. Broad and creamy on the palate with a rich texture and creamy, velveteen stone fruit character of peach and apricot. Notes of sweet spice, pineapple and vanilla come through on the smoky finish which is ripe, round and long. Already approachable and delicious at this young age. This is a classic 2015 White Burgundy - plump, forward and delicious - drink before the more tight 2014.
A bouquet of pear, white peach and toasted wheat framed by oak, of which 25% is new oak. This is followed by a powerful, intense palate with a refined texture, great length and purity. Really excellent. Drink 2016 - 2035.
