Tasting Notes

The is a creamy and enticing Haut-Brion Blanc showing cream, cooked-apple, lemon and mineral aromas and flavors. Full-bodied, layered and soft with silky tannins. A long and bright aftertaste. Energetic and focused. Drink now.

A blend of 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Semillon, the 2015 Haut-Brion Blanc needs a little coaxing to shake loose scents of lime cordial, crushed stones, and brine, leading to a core of apple tart, juicy white peaches, and paraffin wax. The medium-bodied palate is tightly wound, with loads of stone fruit and citrus layers with a satiny texture and fantastic tension, finishing long and minerally.

Dense and lively. Turbo-charged Sauvignon! Some real elegance and lift - honey and the race of Sauvignon. Expressive.
Drink 2022-2032

The 2015 Haut Brion Blanc is the more Sauvignon dominated white from this team (the La Mission is more Sémillon) and checks in as 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Sémillon, brought up in barrel. It offers a sensational perfume of caramelized limes, white grapefruit, tangerine, mint, and citrus, with a pure, elegant, seamless style on the palate. It’s not as concentrated or opulent as the la Mission, yet has incredible precision and purity, as well as minerality. Drink it anytime over the coming decade (or more). 2018 - 2028

The nose has depth sweet fruit the palate an opulence depth of flavour with tropical fruits backed by yellow peach. There is balance the mid sweetness underpinned by citrus freshness layers of flavour complexity. Fleshy and sweet at the back the finish is lighter and fresher there is the feel of power yet elegance.

Among the best white wines of the vintage, as it always is, this white Haut-Brion is as
brilliant as it is rare. Broad, leesy and concentrated, this shows some of the heat of the
vintage, but is balanced by acidity, structure and freshness. Candle wax, toast and pink
grapefruit. Drink: 2017-30

By comparison to the La Mission Blanc this is a very closed powerful, introspective wine with massive power and density.
The richness, which sits right at the back of the palate, is incredible and this pushes the finish out further and further.
Exceptional in every way this wine opens up like a red wine in the glass, showing waxy, citrus notes, floral tones and then
more savoury oak with herb and musk. Thrilling, with a phenomenal future ahead of it, this is one of the finest white
wines in the universe.

The 2015 Haut Brion Blanc is a blend of 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Semillon that was picked between 28 August and 7 September. Like the 2015 La Mission Haut Brion Blanc, the bouquet was quite backward despite rigorous aeration, reluctantly proffering aromas of lime, citrus lemon, gooseberry and a touch of tinned peach. The palate is very well balanced with a fine line of acidity, perhaps even more tensile and precise than the 2015 La Mission Haut-Brion with greengage, citrus lemon and a touch of pineapple furnishing the long finish. This is a beautifully crafted Haut Brion Blanc that will reward those with the nous to cellar it for 10-15 years.

Dense and very powerful with reserve and seamless phenolic. Full body, sliced apple and lemon rind. So long and flavorful. A beautiful and balanced wine. Undertones of oyster shell and stone. Excellent as always.

James Suckling, JamesSuckling.com, March 2016

Composed of 69% Sauvignon Blanc and 31% Semillon, the Haut-Brion 2015 Blanc simply sings with melodious notes of ripe Bosc pears, Golden Delicious apple slices, fresh pineapple and honeyed apricots, providing a highly emotive leitmotif of chalk dust, yuzu zest, shaved almonds and beeswax not to mention the faintest tone of pure lime blossom. The medium to full-bodied palate contributes a compelling steeliness to all those incredible layers, plus a fantastic frame of freshness, finishing with multifaceted mineral and citrus accents. The many tightly wound nuances here as well as the built-like-a-brick-house structure promise to greatly reward the patient over the next 25+ years. Trust me, lovers of this style will be kicking themselves if they don’t purchase a few bottles of this amazing vintage while they can. 2020 - 2045
