Taittinger Collection 1981

Tasting Notes

Arman's design of a surrealistically golden string instrument against a black background is my favorite of the Collection bottles, even if the contents are nothing to rave about. Admittedly delicate and refined, but without the expected concentration—maybe it's presented itself now? I wouldn't be surprised, considering how often Taittinger and the vintage have positively surprised me. Yes! The wine is completely different now with an exciting, smoky, and tar-saturated nose and flavor. Extremely interesting and still vigorous.
