Nuits Clos de l'Arlot, Domaine de l'Arlot 2010

Here there is a distinct whole cluster signature with intense floral and discreet spice notes to the otherwise exceptionally pure and fresh red pinot fruit aromas. The middle weight flavors are notably supple with quite refined tannins and the same admirable mid-palate concentration, all wrapped in an overtly austere yet delicious and solidly complex finish. I find this understated and rather Cistercian effort to be lovely but it may not be to everyone's taste as the youthful austerity is not subtle.
