**Note: from a .40 ha parcel**
Here there is no reductive funk though it requires aggressive swirling to coax the reticent nose to reveal notes of cherry, pomegranate and a lovely range of spice elements. The sleek but equally restrained broad-shouldered and focused flavors possess a taut muscularity while delivering excellent persistence on the impeccably well-balanced finale. Unlike most of the wines in the range this is definitely going to require close to a decade of patience to soften the firm tannic spine. Drink: 2026+
Not surprisingly, the domaine’s 2014 Grands Echézeaux is also a brilliant young wine in the making. The superb nose delivers a complex constellation of red and black raspberries, red plums, great minerality, gamebird, fresh herb tones, Vosne spices and spicy oak. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, pure and very transparent in personality, with fine-grained tannins, a sappy core and lovely grip and balance on the very, very long and classic finish. Great juice. (Drink between 2025-2075)
