Tasting Notes

Aromas of cassis bush and wet earth with oyster shell. Medium to full body, firm and juicy tannins and a delicious finish. A well-rounded wine. Fantastic depth. From biodynamically grown grapes. Try drinking in 2020.

A hint of bay streaks through quickly before the core of red and black currant preserves takes over. Hefty in feel, with extra anise, spice, pepper and singed apple wood notes filling in on the finish. Best from 2019 through 2028. 10,000 cases made.

The 2014 Haut Bages Liberal has a slightly subdued bouquet at the moment: black fruit with woodland and cedar aromas, though I feel that vis-a-vis its peers, it needs more fruit to come through. The palate is better with redcurrant and cranberry, edgy in the mouth with slightly dry tannin on the finish. Saline on the finish, this is a decent Haut Bages Liberal, though it needs to knit together and gain more persistence in the mouth. Drink Date 2019-2035
