An elegant, successful 2011, Cantemerle has produced a finesse-styled wine with a dense ruby/purple color as well as copious notes of flowers, mulberries, raspberries and blueberries. With dramatic quality and purity, this medium-bodied effort possesses sweet tannins and a texture that builds incrementally. A lighter-styled, but beautifully crafted, well done 2011, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-15 years.
This is chewy, with dried-berry and stone character, plus hints of hazelnut. Full and juicy with firm tannins. Lasts a long time on the finish. Second wine of La Mission. Better in 2016.
Attractively aromatic southern Médoc fruit, charm and spice from the Merlot, elegant firmness from the Cabernet and overall finesse and balance. Drink 2014-2022
This is a traditional, authentic example of Cantemerle's vineyard as well as its general winemaking style. Elegant and mid-weight with a finesse-filled style, the 2011 exhibits a dark ruby hue with purple nuances in addition to a bouquet of mulberries, cranberries and black cherries intermixed with flowers and forest floor. Medium-bodied and soft as well as crunchy and vibrant, it can be enjoyed over the next 10-12 years.
Tasted three times, the Cantemerle has a light fish scale nose with crisp dark black fruit and nicely integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with firm, dusty tannins, a core of dusky black fruit and a foursquare, grippy finish that shows fine length. Classic Cantemerle for mid-term drinking. Tasted April 2012.
Pretty blackberry and blueberry character with medium to full body, fine tannins and a fresh finish.
