Tasting Notes

A successful effort in this vintage, Barde-Haut's 2011 (90% Merlot and 10% Cabernet Franc) from proprietor Helene Garcin exhibits soft black currant and black cherry fruit intertwined with hints of spice box, earth, vanillin and blue fruits. Medium-bodied with surprising density for a 2011, soft tannins, adequate acidity and a fine finish, it should age effortlessly for 10-15 years.

Robert Parker, Wine Advocate (200), April 2012

The Barde Haut 2011 has a ripe bouquet of black cherries, cassis and violets, gently smothered in judicious creamy new oak that does not impede the fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. It has a sensual, smooth texture, attractive purity and a fine grip towards the finish that is long and spicy. Modern for sure and well made. Tasted April 2012.

Under the same ownership as Pomerol's Clos l'Eglise, this is a property situated near to Troplong Mondot and La Mondotte. Wine-making is overseen by Alain Reynaud. 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 100% new oak. Tasted at the "Cercle du Rive Droite" this is quite extracted with a rich, powerful body and a slightly hot finish.
