The 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Auguste Favier is a noteworthy rival to the magnificent 2007. The Cinsault component gives the wine a floral, forest floor-like character, and the Grenache provides plenty of black cherry, raspberry and blacker fruit notes. The aromatics are already complex and the tannins are sweet in this full-bodied, deep, rich, provocative 2010. Drink this distinctive, impressive Chateauneuf du Pape over the next 12-15+ years.
The dense purple 2010 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Auguste Favier (85% Grenache and 15% Cinsault and Syrah) looks like blood of the grape. Exhibiting notes of roasted meats, spice box, licorice, bouquet garni, blackberry and cassis fruit, it is fragrant with a hint of lead pencil shavings as well. With moderately high tannins as well as good acidity, this wine will need 5-6 years of bottle age and last for 25 or more years.
