A perfumed and highly spiced nose of red and blue pinot fruit that is liberally sprinkled with notes of cassis, spice, stone and a touch of wood toast. The rich, cool and intensely mineral-driven flavors possess a seductively suave palate impression before terminating in a superbly complex, balanced and persistent finish. 2010 seems to have been an especially successful vintage for Amoureuses and this is one more corroborating effort that should improve for 15 to 20 years.
(just 2-1/2 barrels made; along with the Musigny, this finished its malolactic fermentation very late and was racked just before the 2011 harvest): Bright medium red. Pristine, discreet aromas of blueberry, raspberry, cranberry, white pepper, minerals and blood orange: good luck finding this perfume in pinot noir made outside Burgundy. Suave, tight and high-pitched, with almost painful intensity to the razor-sharp fruit and saline mineral flavors. Youthfully imploded, virtually weightless wine with great back-end lift.
