Probably a sleeper of the vintage, the medium to full-bodied, pure 2008 reveals notes of almond paste intermixed with black currants, sweet cherries, caramel and mocha as well as an attractive texture and density. Consume it over the next decade.
The flesh of damson lends weight to the nose with under it fresher blackberry. The tannins are quite firm but their roundness lets the fruit show to advantage. The fruit lingers on the palate.
One of the strongest efforts from this estate in many years, this dense ruby/purple-hued 2008 displays a full-bodied, masculine, structured style not dissimilar to that of Trotanoy (one of the vintage's stars). Pure black currant and black cherry fruit are accompanied by underlying notions of minerals, roasted herbs, caramel, and plums. This layered, concentrated, full-bodied wine requires 5-6 years of bottle age, and should last for two decades.
