Made by Ducru-Beaucaillou's Bruno Borie, this is a fruit-driven, Merlot-dominated 2006 displaying notes of sweet cherries, tobacco leaf, and roasted herbs offered in a medium-bodied, evolved, straightforward style. Consume it over the next 4-5 years
25 ha plot bought from Lagrange in 1968/69 by Jean Eugène Borie. It's close to Lagrange and Gruaud Larose. 36 yr old vines on fine gravel soils - not the big stones of Beaucaillou. Coolish fermentation.Deep crimson. Thick and rather brutal - pretty chewy. Stringy finish even if a little sweet at the start. No real concentration in the middle, very very dry end. Sandpaper finish. Date tasted 31st July 07.
