Among the most saturated blue/purple/black-coloured examples of the vintage, Taylor's 2000 tasted like a young vintage of Chateau Latour on steroids. Aromas of graphite, blackberry, liqueur, crème de cassis and smoke jump from the glass. Spectacularly concentrated and enormously endowed, with sweetness allied to ripe tannin, decent acidity, and layer upon layer of fruit and extract, this is the leading candidate for port of the vintage.
Very deep purple. Bonfires, fireworks and drama. Big and bold and very modern. Lots there, masses of ripe bold fruit then great whack of both acidity and tannins. This wine is somehow American in its open appeal. Not subtle or devious. Slightly pinched on the finish.Drink 2012-2027Date tasted 13 Oct 04
