Hermitage La Chapelle, Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aine 1976

Tasting Notes

Shaped by heat and drought, the 1976 Hermitage La Chapelle reveals a more solar and muscular profile than its siblings, offering up a bouquet of rancio, walnuts, cigar wrapper and licorice. Full-bodied and firmly structured, it has a powerful tannic frame, a spice-inflected finish and a solar warmth that is impossible to ignore. At this stage, the vintage speaks more loudly than the terroir, yet the wine remains both balanced and surprisingly deep, a testament to the resilience of this singular site.
