Pretty aromas of blackberries and currants with hints of lead pencil. Full-bodied yet very balanced, vwith a solid core of fruit and ultrafine tannins. Really well-crafted wine; Lagrange often excels in less than easy vintages. Best after 2008.
Silky tannins, fairly bedded down with raspberry, redcurrant, tobacco and black pepper notes, and slightly bitter orange peel giving focus to the finish. Fresh acidities run through the palate and overll you feel a good dousing of spiced herbs from the Petit Verdot. This is at a good moment to drink. Harvest October 1 to 14, Eric and Jacques Boissenot consultant.
Deep ruby/purple with considerable amounts of toasty new oak blasting out of the glass, this wine’s heavy-handed vanilla oakiness conceals its relatively extracted, rich, tannic flavors. It remains dumb and closed, but offers excellent depth, power, and richness. While there is plenty here, patience is required. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2020.
Drink 2009-20 Very complete and mouth filling. Admirable. Fills the whole palate. Super brisk. Transparent. Good stuff.
Displaying considerable new oak as well as copious quantities of rich, ripe fruit, fine density, and a structured, muscular style, this inky ruby/purple-colored wine will require 5-8 years of cellaring. Pure, with creme de cassis, vanilla, and spice box, this rugged, medium-bodied wine represents the poor man’s Leoville Las-Cases. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2020
