Romanée Saint Vivant, Domaine de la Romanée Conti 2000

This remains quite deeply colored with a still largely primary nose of ripe dark berry pinot fruit, plenty of spice and a hint of sandalwood. There is gorgeous complexity to the firm, intense and relatively powerful flavors that display striking complexity on the solidly structured but not hard finish that delivers outstanding length. This is turning out to be better than I originally foresaw and I have upgraded my score accordingly. As to drinkability, I would be inclined to wait a few more years first though with 30+ minutes of air, it is no longer outright infanticide to open a bottle. That said, I will be waiting at least another 3 years for the bottles that I own.
