Tasting Notes

This may turn out to be an outstanding effort. Deep and concentrated for a 2001, it offers a classic Pessac-Leognan bouquet of smoky, scorched earth, black currants, melted licorice, and a hint of burning embers. Although still monolithic, this medium-bodied claret possesses good texture, purity, ripeness, and overall balance. Give it 2-3 years of cellaring, and consume it over the following 12-15 years.

Dark, brooding-looking. Pretty herbaceous aromas. Round and clean and fresh. Tannins fairly substantial underneath. Still pretty inky but has definite potential for those who don’t mind grassiness.
