Tasting Notes

This is an extraordinary Sauternes. Fabulously concentrated, this mammoth-size Sauternes should prove to be one of the monumental efforts of the vintage. For those who prefer power and finesse, the 1988 may take preferance; for those who want pure brute strength and unbelievable size the 1989 is without equal. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2025. Last tasted 4/91

The 1989 Suduiraut Crème de Tête was the second and final release. Certainly it is better than the 1982 it has an extravagant bouquet of Satsumas, honeysuckle and beeswax, not a million miles away from a Tokaji of 6 Puttonyos. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, orange peel intermixed with pink grapefruit towards the surprisingly penetrating finish. Unlike the 1982, the 1989 Crème de Tête delivers something to talk about although, bottles are now difficult to track down. 141gm/L residual sugar.
