The 2024 Sauvignon Blanc Barrel Fermented is oxidatively handled, whole-bunch pressed and spends 11 months on the lees. It has an attractive nose, no pyrazine, not malic in style but with light peachy notes and touches of orange blossom. The palate is fresh and lively with a touch of ginger on the entry, the barrel-fermented part is quite expressive with a bitter, lemon-tinged finish. Delicious. Drink: 2026-2032
Using equal proportions of grapes from Elgin, Greyton and Walker Bay, this is always one of the most complex Sauvignon Blancs in the Cape, showing the subtlety that’s the hallmark of Samantha O’Keefe’s winemaking. Combining foudre, concrete egg and new and old wood components, it’s savoury, briny and intense, with greengage, lime and pink grapefruit flavours and a kiss of kitchen spices. Drink 2026-32
